Integrative Counselling
With an integrative approach I bring together all aspects of the person when considering treatment, these include emotions, thinking, behaviour and how they interact in society.
This can also include the transpersonal. With these aspects in mind I adopt various approaches ie Psychoanalytic, Jungian, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Gestalt, Person Centred, Body Psychotherapy, Existential and Family Systemics.
For me the most important aspect of counselling is the relationship between the client and the therapist. I offer a space that is safe, supportive and encouraging. The relationship I develop is based on respect and unconditional positive regard. I believe that a non-judgemental and welcoming environment is crucial to providing a nurturing place for clients to discuss past and current issues and move forward into hopefully a more positive and healthy future.
I offer many tools, use various approaches and methods which are tailored to the individuals needs. I am very drawn to early attachments and the effects neurologically on the developing brain and aim to try and offer an opportunity for reparative work to occur during the therapeutic journey. Most people generally want to improve their relationships and my approach aims to always bring in interpersonal relationships as well as introspective – using the therapeutic relationship as its anchor to both explore patterns and experiment with alternatives.
I am able to offer a creative non-verbal approach using sand tray, art and even drama therapy if you feel stuck or blocked verbally.
